DIY: Turning a Sad, Empty Frame into a Fab Bulletin Board

Several months ago, I picked up this frame.
Where I acquired it, someone's trash, is unimportant, but it was free and had mad character.  It was REAL wood with a pretty turquoise treatment in the grooves.  It even had "Hecho En Mexico" branded on it.

I hung it up after it first arrived at mi casa, but it sat empty for monthsI finally got the gumption and measured it and set off to the craft store to buy some cork board.  Just my luck, they had this:
It's a "cork panel."  It was about $8 after a coupon and sales tax.  It's basically an unframed bulletin board - very thick.  But, of course, it wasn't the right size, so I had to take a my husband's skill saw to it, which ended up looking like this:

I'm a messier creator.  My husband will be unhappy to verify that information!  Then I placed the cork panel into the frame and secured it with my handy upholstery staple gun - I'm amazed at how often a basic, manual staple gun comes in handy.
At this point, I tried it back on the wall and found that it hung a little wobbly.  It needed some pads on the bottom corners to help it out.  I used the sticky foam pads included with the cork board (I stuck two together and left the cover on the one touching my wall) - worked like a charm.
With the new bulletin board hanging beautifully up against the wall, I was left with this great spot to hang masterpieces:
